Ranching

Ranch animals have star ratings for traits like meat, milk, eggs and wool. Pair your best keepers to improve the line, then sell the branded produce.

How it works

Look at a ranch animal to see its stars. Sneak and right-click it with an empty hand to inspect it fully. Young lean towards the better parent, so pairing your two best of a kind improves the line over time.

Animals die of old age about a week after they grow up, so keep a young pair going. Keep about eight adults of each kind near each other; more than that lowers what they produce.

The loop

1. Visit the Ranch Foreman. Your first lasso is free.
2. Lasso wild livestock, or buy cheap one and two star starter stock. A lasso doesn't work on claimed land.
3. Pair two adult keepers by clicking both with the same feed.
4. Milk, shear and collect eggs. Your produce carries your brand.
5. Sell branded produce to the Ranch Produce Buyer.

Where it leads

Higher star traits make more produce and sell for more, and produce from pedigree stock earns a bonus. The Foreman sells a few pedigree animals and posts one request each week. Ranch meat, chicken and eggs go into cooking recipes. The Rancher's Path in /quests pays coins as you breed and sell.
